Group InformationWe are excited about you coming to visit us in Mexico. We pray that this trip will be a blessing to you as well as the Mexican people. Here are a few things that will make your trip safer and more profitable. TravelNavojoa, Sonora, where we are located, is 400 miles south of the border city of Nogales, Arizona. It is about 10 hours driving time depending on how long it takes to obtain travel visas at the border. Gas prices are usually comparable to States prices. The highway down is a toll road and will cost about $20.00 - $25.00 per vehicle to make the trip (one way). You can obtain Mexican car insurance at the same location that you receive your travel visa. The United States requires that you have a passport in order to re-enter the country. MoneyYou can change dollars into pesos at the border. Sometimes you will get better prices with pesos but dollars are accepted almost everywhere. PermitsYou will need a personal tourist visa and a car permit. These are given at the Aduana station 21 kilometers below the border. For your personal visa you will need a passport. If the person is under 18 years old, he or she will need a guardian's notarized permission slip. For your car permit you will need the vehicle registration in the driver's name. If it is a church vehicle you will need a notarized statement on church stationary signed by the pastor or a church officer. On the notarized statement include the driver's name, year, make and model of the vehicle, the VIN number and the license plate number. If it is a rental vehicle you will need the rental contract in the driver's name. You cannot bring a borrowed vehicle in, even with a notarized statement. WeaponsThe government is very strict on this matter. Please don't bring any large hunting knives, guns, bullets or any other type of weapon past the border. To avoid trouble please leave them at home. DressThe Mexican pastors in our churches encourage their people to dress very modestly. To be a blessing to them we ask that you follow a few simple guidelines while you are here. GirlsPlease bring skirts and dresses. For swimming: long full culottes and large, colored t-shirts. We ask that you do not wear pants or shorts, sleeveless tops or tight fitting clothing while you are here. BoysPlease bring collared shirts for the services. For swimming: long shorts and colored t-shirts. Please no shorts or sleeveless t-shirts other than for swimming. MinistryOur goal is that you might be an encouragement to the Mexican people and that the Mexican Christians will be a blessing to you. Please remember that you are coming into their culture and ministry. Try to venture out of your group. Down here a smile and a handshake go a long way. Mexico is a third world country so keep in mind that there are differences and inconveniences. If you remember that they do things a little different it will be an adventure and a great opportunity for blessings. If God leads you to come down we believe it is because He will use you in a special way. We will be praying with you that this trip will bring eternal results, both here and in your home church. |
